Creative Support Alternatives provides supported living services to people with developmental disabilities

Kristoffel van de Burgt

Kristoffel van de Burgt, Associate Director, has worked for Creative Support Alternatives since September 2000.  In this role, he coordinates Supported Living Services and provides direct support for individuals within the program, collaborates with multiple agencies serving adults, as well as Interwork Institute and San Diego State University Research Foundation.  He manages daily operations for the San Diego-based services, trains new employees in the philosophy of supported living and the application of supported living principles, and educates those interested in services, their families, other professionals, and students on supported living.  He has worked as a Community Support Facilitator, Coordinator, and currently, as Associate Director.

Prior to working for CSA, he worked for a New Jersey-based non-profit organization that supported individuals with disabilities for three years. He served as a Direct Support Specialist for individuals residing in group homes and he volunteered to assist in the reconstruction of an apartment complex destroyed by Hurricane Andrew.  In addition, he was a Live-In Companion for an individual with a developmental disability in El Cajon, California for three years.

Kristoffel received his Masters Degree in Accounting from San Diego State University and his Bachelors Degree in History from Rutgers University.  He is a member of the San Diego Vendor Coalition, Cal-TASH, and the California Supported Living Network.
